1. Purpose of this page
This page explains how Maqam Academy handles online payment management, recurring subscriptions, billing-cycle changes, ordinary cancellation, refunds and statutory withdrawal rights. It is a practical summary. The Terms & Conditions / AGB and mandatory applicable law remain authoritative.
2. Payment processing through Stripe
Maqam Academy uses Stripe for supported online payment and subscription-management functions.
Stripe may handle payment-card information, billing details, invoices, recurring charges and payment authentication through Stripe-hosted interfaces. Maqam Academy does not intentionally store complete payment-card numbers on its own server.
The payment methods actually available are those shown by Stripe during checkout or billing management.
3. Maqam Academy Plus billing
Maqam Academy Plus is available with the billing intervals and prices currently displayed on the Plans page and at checkout.
A recurring Plus subscription renews according to the selected billing interval unless it is cancelled or otherwise ends.
Maqam Academy Plus is one complete individual subscription. Advanced Practice and Structure Training may remain separate internal entitlement modules for content control, but they are not sold as separate customer add-ons.
The My Account area separates the main billing actions:
- Manage billing & payment opens the Stripe billing portal for supported payment methods, invoices and billing details.
- Billing-cycle changes are reviewed and confirmed through Maqam Academy, with Stripe remaining the payment and invoice source of truth.
- Cancel subscription opens a Maqam Academy cancellation review. After confirmation, Maqam Academy instructs Stripe to stop the next renewal while preserving access through the already-paid period.
Monthly to yearly switching is scheduled for the end of the current paid monthly period. The monthly period remains unchanged and no payment is taken when the switch is scheduled. At the existing monthly renewal boundary, Stripe charges the full yearly price and a new 12-month yearly period begins. No proration, unused-time credit or overlapping paid period is created by this switch.
Yearly to monthly switching is not available during an active paid yearly term. A yearly subscriber who does not want another yearly renewal may cancel the yearly subscription renewal. The already-paid yearly access continues through the paid annual period. After that yearly access ends, the customer may choose a new Monthly subscription if Monthly is then offered.
4. Maqam Academy Edu billing
The standard self-service Edu plan is an annual Edu subscription for educators and educational organizations. Billing is administered through the Educator Account, whose internal permission role is Edu Admin, using Edu Billing.
Edu workspaces can use Manage billing & payment for supported Stripe billing functions. Cancellation conditions for Edu are governed by the current Edu terms, any applicable institutional agreement and mandatory law.
Custom institutional arrangements may use billing and cancellation procedures agreed directly with Maqam Academy rather than the self-service Stripe flow.
5. Ordinary Plus cancellation
Ordinary subscription cancellation concerns future renewal or termination of an ongoing subscription. It is different from statutory withdrawal.
For an eligible Plus subscription, use the dedicated Cancel subscription button in My Account or the available online cancellation mechanism.
The Plus rule is simple: a customer may cancel at any time before the next renewal is actually processed. There is no artificial 7-day monthly cancellation deadline and no 3-month annual Plus cancellation deadline.
After cancellation is confirmed:
- no new payment is taken merely for scheduling the cancellation;
- the next recurring renewal is stopped;
- already-paid Plus access continues through the current paid-period end;
- the cancellation effective date is shown to the customer and confirmed electronically;
- no automatic current-period billing credit or refund is created merely because ordinary cancellation was scheduled.
If Stripe has already processed the next renewal before the cancellation request is completed, that newly paid period has begun. Ordinary cancellation then stops the following renewal, while statutory withdrawal, refund and other mandatory consumer rights remain separate.
If a monthly-to-yearly change was already scheduled and the customer instead cancels the complete Plus subscription, the full cancellation supersedes that future yearly switch.
If cancellation has already been scheduled, Maqam Academy may display Cancellation scheduled instead of a second cancellation button.
6. Plus package changes
The current Plus product has no separately purchased customer add-ons. Billing-cycle and cancellation actions therefore apply to the complete Plus subscription.
7. Billing confirmations
Maqam Academy sends electronic confirmations for important Plus billing lifecycle events where supported, including billing-cycle changes, scheduled cancellation, subscription end and payment failure.
Paid transaction confirmations may include the corresponding Stripe invoice PDF when available. Stripe invoices and payment records remain the financial source of truth.
For scheduled actions such as monthly-to-yearly switching or ordinary cancellation, the confirmation states when no payment was taken on the scheduling date. A scheduled monthly-to-yearly confirmation also states the future yearly start date and the yearly amount that Stripe will charge at that boundary.
8. Refunds
Stopping use of Maqam Academy or scheduling ordinary cancellation does not automatically create a refund for an already-started billing period.
Refunds may nevertheless be required or granted where applicable law provides a right to reimbursement, where a valid statutory withdrawal has consequences for payment, where Maqam Academy expressly promises a refund, or where a billing error is corrected.
Any refund actually processed through Stripe is subject to the payment method and processing information shown by Stripe.
9. Statutory withdrawal / Widerruf
Consumers may have a statutory right of withdrawal for eligible distance contracts. Ordinary cancellation and statutory withdrawal are separate legal mechanisms.
Where a statutory withdrawal right applies, the applicable withdrawal period, conditions, procedure and consequences are governed by the legally required withdrawal information supplied for the contract and by mandatory law.
Maqam Academy does not treat the ordinary Cancel subscription action as a substitute for a statutory withdrawal declaration.
10. Questions about billing, cancellation or withdrawal
If the billing interface does not reflect your situation, use the Contact page and choose the relevant Plus or Edu topic. For a statutory withdrawal issue, clearly state that the message concerns withdrawal / Widerruf and identify the account email and the relevant subscription or purchase.
For contractual details, also review the Terms & Conditions / AGB and Privacy Policy.
